• Congratulations to all the participants in this weekend’s Dragon Boat Race Festival, which marked its 24th year with races from Toronto Centre Island. Proceeds this year go to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
• Also this past weekend on the island: a musical fundraiser to help raise money for the Far Enough Farm, the island zoo whose future is in jeopardy due to a City budget crunch.
• At Sway, the story of 355 College Street, for decades a key hub for the black community in Toronto.
• Announced on Friday: Toronto artist Shary Boyle will represent Canada at the Venice Biennale art fair next year.
