—TTC Chair Karen Stintz (Ward 16, Eglinton-Lawrence), in conversation this morning with Anne-Marie Mediwake at a Women’s Executive Network breakfast. In another clip from the interview, Stintz added that in raising concerns about Ford’s subway plan with the mayor, she encountered “this belief that if I [that is, the mayor] don’t recognize that there’s a problem, then there’s no problem.”

      No, the mayor gets paid a hell of a lot more for being completely ineffectual.

      Though I’m curious who you think gets $30 an hour at the TTC for doing nothing.

      I wouldn’t sit and do nothing underground or be harassed by patrons for 8+ hours a day for $30/hr. By the way, Karen Stintz is a city councilor not a TTC employee.

      I would also argue that Ford does sit around and do nothing all day, AND he is paid more than $30/hr.

    Stintz is only confirming what everyone in the city (including the sad bastards that voted for him, and members of council who joined his executive) already knew. Ahem.

    And what we all knew, and know: Rob Ford is first and last, a compleat idiot, a naif who would be wildly out of his depth coaching a football team comprised of armed, amateur taxi robbers.

    A man who dragged an industrial scale to his office for a series of weekly public humilations, capped off with an ankle sprain on his last, failed weigh-in.

    Some may find that admirable or at least, convenient, for a while.

    This late revelation is great, but the reality is that there were many who saw this coming. For her first year in office she toed the Ford line in reversing much of the Ridership Growth Strategy. She might be right now, but she was wrong before and riders are paying for those decisions. Did being shut out by Miller’s administration (who pioneered some of the tactics Ford later used like circulating information to favoured councillors) hurt that much?
