Shut since last summer for renovations, the Bloor will open again next month.
Cinephile alert: the Bloor Cinema, currently shut for renovations, is set to reopen in a month. The much-loved rep cinema was acquired by Hot Docs and Blue Ice Film last summer and, as we learned back then, screenings will be focused on documentary films. This is good news for Hot Docs—which has long used the Bloor as a base for its annual festival—though perhaps bad news for fans of the cult films the cinema used to show every week.
Programming at the Bloor kicks off on March 12 and 13, with free open-house screenings of the documentary Waste Land. March 14 and 15 will see invite-only industry events, and then the schedule of public screenings starts officially on Friday, March 16 (with Being Elmo).
