Heroes and Villains 2011:
Villains—Our Political Leadership

Torontoist is ending the year by naming our Heroes and Villains—the very best and very worst people, places, things, and ideas that have had an influence on the city over the past twelve months.

Today, in villains: some of our frustrating, disappointing, downright scaredy-cat politicians.

Rob Ford, for being bellicose but not brave.

Ford’s Council Friends, for running interference too often.

Tim Hudak, for invoking divisions in the name of conservatism.

From December 12–23, the candidates for Mightiest and Meanest—and new this year, a reader’s write-in option! From December 26–29 you’ll be able to vote for Toronto’s Superhero and Supervillain of the year, and we’ll reveal the results December 30.

Oh what a surprise, Torontoist doesn’t like conservative politicians. No room for Harper?

Name three good things either Ford and Hudak have done in the last year.

Well, Ford has shown us the danger of voter apathy.

        that’s all I got.

        1) Cleaned up the rampant spending of the Miller regime
        2) Actually got useful transit (ie not bandaid streetcars, see St Clair West) under construction for the first time since the early 80s
        3) Showed us how entitled the loopy progressive citizens of this city think they are

Strange, I haven’t ridden any transit routes or heard of any shovels in the ground as a result of Rob Ford. In fact, the only change in transit I can credit to Rob Ford is that the bus running past my building will get more crowded next year.

Councilor Pam McConnell for being an old hack at her job and failing to represent her taxpaying, home owning, neighbourhood citizens.

If I were a devil worshipper, (which I am not) I would find the depiction of Rob Ford as the devil, an insult to my lord.
