WHERE: Amazing Party and Costume, just west of Islington at the Gardiner Expressway

WHAT: Amazing Party and Costume bills itself as “Canada’s largest party store,” and its owner is speculating that this success may have garnered the store the wrong kind of attention this Halloween weekend. A total of six suspicious packages have been found on the premises, at least two of which have been confirmed by police to contain genuine explosives. Store owner Shawn Hamilton told the Globe he thinks a competitor may be responsible, though police haven’t identified any suspects yet. Police are having a hard time pronouncing the store clear of further threats because its inventory is so large that combing through it all takes some time; Amazing Party and Costume, according to a note on its website, is closed until further notice, and also cannot fill orders placed online for the time being.
