Given its size, Maple Leaf Gardens was an ideal venue for political rallies, especially during election campaigns. Unfortunately for Louis St. Laurent and the Liberals, their rally on June 7, 1957, turned into a nightmare when a teenage heckler attempting to climb onstage fell backwards and hit his head on the concrete floor.
