WHERE: Roncesvalles Avenue

WHEN: Evening of October 18

WHAT: A memorial for Tony Clemens, who passed away on Roncesvalles on October 18 following a recent surgery and a fight with lung cancer, among other health problems. Clemens was a recognizable neighbourhood figure and a source of news and gossip about the street’s tight-knit community through the blog Homeless Man Speaks.

His friend Philip Sterns—who has been running the blog on Clemens’ behalf since October 2006, frequently transcribing their poignant and often humourous exchanges—confirmed his death on Tuesday. Since then, dozens of friends and community members have left comments on the post, expressing condolences and sharing memories. Read more details on Clemens’ life and passing in this Star story. Rest in peace, Tony.
