WHAT: Breaking with tradition, TIFF opened this year not with Canadiana but with a documentary—one about U2. From the Sky Down got its world premiere tonight, and Bono and The Edge walked the red carpet for the gala presentation. “Toronto is a great city,” said The Edge. “We love it here. Our music friends are here. They even named a radio station after me.” Meanwhile actor Elisabeth Shue (wife of Sky Down producer Davis Guggenheim) turned the tables on the rows of photographers outside the hall, showing up sporting a Leica M7. “Only black and white film here,” she said as she snapped her way passed us.
