Help Name the Spadina Extension Subway Stations

TTC asks public to choose from three proposed names or suggest their own for each of the six new stations.

The TTC wants your input as it considers names for the six new subway stations it is building on the 8.6-kilometre Spadina Subway Extension. Until October 21, you can fill out the consultation form online or print it out [PDF] and mail or fax it in.

For each of the six stations, the TTC came up with three names that “make direct reference to their geographic location, to aid passengers and to ensure that the most-prominent words on the walls of the station provide useful information for customers finding their way in the city.” The consultation form also gives respondents the option to suggest another name. Click on the images in the gallery above to see the proposed names for each station.

In case anyone else has as much trouble finding them as I did: the proposed names are in grey on black in an info box to the right of the pictures, under the “TORONTOIST” heading.

  • Joshua Hull

It should clearly be called Spadina Bus!

Under no circumstances should the station at York be called “University Station:” that’s just confusing.

It’s a stupid name, so it will probably happen. Soon you’ll be able to ride the yonge-university line past three universities to stop at university station.

I still can’t find the choices.
This site used to be better.

    Implausible Architectural Render Station

I don’t see a single car near any of them, and half don’t have bicycle parking. The stylish people that live in architectural renderings must love walking long distances.

They always stride so confidently; it would be a shame to waste it.

Lets call the extension “Torontonians supporting York Region Transit with Toronto Tax Dollars and no help from York Region.”
OR “More Congestion from 905ers on the subway 416ers paid for.”

Come on, let’s be honest. York Region is paying their share of both capital and operations

407 Station = Harris Station, or possibly Common Sense Station.

Beyond York Uni the subway line should be call “Subway line to nowhere”!
