Previewing EdgeWalk at the CN Tower

Later this summer, the intrepid amongst us will have the opportunity not just to go up the CN Tower, but to walk around the observation deck—on the outside. EdgeWalk caused quite the stir when it was announced in May, with reactions ranging from “hell yeah!” to “not if you paid me a million dollars.”
Tickets (pricey ones, at $175 a pop) went on sale June 1, and walks begin in August, but in the meantime the CN Tower’s owner, the Canada Lands Company, has just released a sneak peek of the tour. CEO Mark Laroche completed this circuit around the observation deck recently, and brought cameras along with him. (EdgeWalk is still under construction, so it’ll be clear of material on the walk and look a bit different by the time the public gains access.) The walk is actually less terrifying-looking than we imagined: there’s a wide walkway and straps to hang onto in addition to the harness, and wind levels seem eminently managable. The whole thing seems more like a great adrenalin rush than a death-defying stunt—which may or may not be what you were hoping for.

$175 a pop seems ridiculous. For reference – the Sky Jump at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas is $100, Bungee at Great Canadian Bungee outside Ottawa is $100, Skydiving at Skydive Toronto is $288 for a solo jump - includes 6 hours of training. Thoughts?

I probably would never go if it was $17.50.

I like the shot towards the end where you see the entire tower shadow on the ground. Too bad he did not get a shot looking up the tower.

Given the safety briefings etc., the is a capacity constraint on the number of people per day who can do this, hence the high price.

Looking at the shadow, I think there should be numbers painted on the rooftops below to make the world's largest sundial.

I had a chance to walk the roof of the restaurant back when it was under construction. Lying flat on my stomach and holding my camera over the edge is an experience I'll never forget! I'll pass on paying $175 to do it again…with a fence and a safety harness this time!

$175 seems like an amazing deal. I was unsure myself at the high price but when you compare all the other places charge a base price. $100 gets you in at those other places then it's $25 per photo and then if you want a video of your crazy experience it's around 30-40$ on top of everything else.
I checked into it and the edgewalk $175 gets you everything, the crazy walk, DVD of you out there, 2 photos of you out there, apparently a certificate as well and then they even throw in their biggest admission ticket for the rest of the tower,…that ticket alone is worth over 40$.
If it was 175 for just the walk and nothing else I'd pass but someone please confirm what I'm saying because it seems crazy they're including everything else for $175.

I thought $175 was crazy too but I looked into it. It's seems like an amazing deal. All similar crazy attractions seem to charge a base price and then they get you at the exit. $100 gets you into the attraction only, be it jumping in Vegas or anything else. Then on the way out they always scam you with the part….want a photo….$25 each…..video…that's even more….$40 each.
Apparently the edgewalk gets you EVERYTHING for one price. I called and they said 175 includes the walk, a DVD recorded by the guide who takes you out, 2 big glossy pictures of you out there taken by the guide, a certificate and on top of that they give you their biggest ticket worth over 40 bucks for the rest of the CN Tower and all it's attractions.
At first seems steep but now Im impressed, they given you everything for one price.
What does everything else think? I
