WHERE: Consulate General Of The People’s Republic Of China, 240 St. George Street
WHEN: Sunday, April 17, 1–2 p.m.
WHAT: Members of Toronto’s arts community gathered in front of the Chinese consulate this afternoon to protest the incarceration of artist Ai Weiwei, who was arrested at Beijing Airport on April 3 and has not been heard from since. Similar protests took place in cities around the world, all inspired by Fairytale: 1001 Qing Dynasty Wooden Chairs, an installation Ai Weiwei created for Documenta in 2007.
