Want to Join the TCHC Board?

headlesscouncil1.jpg    The Toronto Community Housing Corporation, which lost its board in somewhat dramatic fashion earlier this month, is looking to fill those empty spots soon. A call for board member applications is up on the City’s site, along with all the necessary details and forms. To answer your first question, the chair receives a twenty-thousand-dollar annual retainer, while members get twenty-five-hundred dollars per year, plus five hundred per meeting, up to a maximum of ten thousand dollars per year. So, if you know a lot about social housing, or have experience in community development, business management, labour relations, or legal aid, this could be your big break. The deadline for applications is April 15.

Meanwhile, Tchc is having a 'board' meeting on April 6th, so that the single member, Case Ootes, can rubber stamp the sale of single family houses that God-forbid, are in what are now considered 'desirable' neighbourhoods. An eviction of the undeserving poor that Mr Ootes has been relishing for several years.
