The Great Torontoist Pun Hunt: West

Two years ago, Torontoist found sixty-two businesses in Toronto with pun-y names—from Boulevard of Broken Seams (a clothing shop that did alterations) to The Pour House (a pub) to Hi Fi Fo Fum (a speaker store). Since, we’ve found nearly one hundred more. Today, it’s the west end’s turn, from Ossington Avenue over to the 427, between Eglinton Avenue and the Lake.

Created and curated by David Topping.

CORRECTION: JANUARY 11, 2011, 4:00 P.M. A photo of Ideal Coffee on Queen Street East was originally included in this gallery—spelled “Ideal Coffee”—and misidentified as their location on Ossington Avenue. Thanks to Jonathan Goldsbie for alerting us to the error; the properly named “i deal coffee” is now in its rightful geographic home, with the puns of the east.

I'm almost surprised that this was never mentioned as a just bad and wrong pun. The only way to worsen it is that it had a “at St. [pick one] Church” following it.

All kidding aside, there's something almost cloyingly Mary Engelbreit about this exercise.

You'll get your Snakes and Lattes… We've still got two more Pun Hunt installments to go, including Downtown South and Downtown North.
