Duly Quoted: Rob Ford

“Something is going to be coming down the pipe soon….I’m excited. I’m pumped. I’m getting a lot of support. Literally thousands. That’s not an exaggeration. Thousands.”
—Rob Ford to the Star‘s Royson James. Ford is now widely expected to announce his candidacy for mayor—and it looks like that’ll happen at his “Ten Years on Council in Toronto” public event on March 26.

Thousands, eh? Sounds like he’s pulling Stephen LeDrew levels of support.

I’d rather have Adam back, please. At lease he knew how to treat a lady.
(Yes. I’m aware of the irony.)

I like Rob. I think he provides a very valuable dissenting voice on Council. But I don’t think he’s got the personality to accomplish anything as Mayor.

    This is gonna be AWESOME.

  • Darren

I’d vote for him, but I fear he will be dividing the right between him and Sarah Thomson

Rob Ford reminds me a little too much of Guy Fieddi.

I think the bigger concern is that he steals enough Smitherman/Rossi votes to let Joe Pantaleone slip through on the extreme left.

Boy, if it just turns out that he’s found an extra $100 in his office budget, the press are going to be so bitter.

Someone was going to vote for Thomson?

  • http://undefined canuck1975

Well, he *was* called that (not that his actions were appropriate).
I hope Rob Ford runs and loses. He’ll be out of our hair. If we’re lucky, he’ll run for the CONS in an election and lose too… or even better, win, and get muzzled by the party machine. Ha!

Oh yeah, people like you want more of Miller and Pantalone. Hows that million dollar toilet Joe installed?

We’re going to take a one-sided youtube clip where the man is instigated into a fight, and hold that against his acheivements. Did you know that thanks to HIS efforts we now have the transperency in the way office budgets are spent? Prior to his dirt-digging, we had Mammolotti blowing money on cabs to Woodbridge for “his constituents”. We had the pro-cycling oxymoron of a fat-slob Kyle Rae popping into and out of cabs on our dime, etc etc
Conservative is spelled with lower-case. CON is something the Federal Liberals did while in office, with the Ad-scam and a host of other financial dealings. The provincial Liberals sure conned us with the supposed short-term health surchage which became permenant, along with other new taxes. Taking your views from the Toronto Star is nothing short of insanity. Just look at today’s Royson James piece on Ford. Its borderline libel and rife with personal attacks

And here’s some newly released figures on the amount of cab fare charged to the city by the TTC Chair and his office…even though he gets a free metropass pass and expenses metropasses to temp-staff

Are you referring to his wife’s claims of abuse, which were not only dropped but she was ultimately charged? Because if you then you just libled the man

    this will be fun.
Ford has zero chance of winning, but i bet you he and Big-Mouth Smitherman will get into some amazing yelling matches that will (hopefully) help Smitherman lose this election.

Oh man, seriously, I wish I read that yesterday. I could have used the laugh. It’s obvious you don’t know me. I’m not a liberal, conservative, centrist or any of th other garbage labels that people put on themselves.
    I’m a pragmatic realist.
The reality is that Rob Ford is a shame to our city. He’s not a leader, he’s a trouble-maker. He doesn’t provide anything to council unless he’s sitting on his soap box. The only thing he’s been consistent at is making himself look like a child, first with Lastman and then with Miller.
This city doesn’t need a mayor who doesn’t know how to negotiate with the others on council. S/he has one vote and needs to convince the majority of the rest to support them. Rob Ford would never get that support and, without question, would be a lame duck mayor from the day he takes office.
It’s far too early to discuss who would make the best mayor. We can only speak about those who we know: Smitherman; Pantoleone; Ford. Come back and talk to me in five months when the actual platforms are released and we can actually choose who to vote for based on what they can be, not who they are.
One last comment about Rob Ford: he can’t act like a clown and/or childish brat and not expect to be treated like one. End of story.

Wow, really??? Because you could have fooled all of us; you sure did come across as a NDP apologist
