Looks more like Dundas West and Howard Park.

True. Good catch. Howard Park is right. Apologies to Posterchild.

I’ve fixed the (minor) error and updated the Google Map accordingly—thanks for spotting that, Mark. I should have myself, since, doy, I grew up just up the street from Dundas West and High Park.

I don’t get it. Does the Gap sell these hats? What is he advertising?

  • http://undefined Solex

Nothing. People used to wear hats a lot back in the day, and this is no different-it’s just a drawing of a guy wearing a hat.

I don’t know… people are wearing these hats a lot again these days… I think it’s another ad campaign for someone. Fauxreel can’t be expected to make this stuff for free. He has to earn a living somehow. It must be for the Gap or some similar store…

Looked like The Invisible Man to me … http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/17818.jpg

Good point. It’s pretty selfish to use valuable public space to promote your own ego-agenda instead of advertising valuable products and services and contributing to the paycheques of thousands of people. Somebody outta tag that sucker with a Nike swoosh.

It’s one thing to put up art illegally. It’s another to illegally put ups ads. Fauxreel illegally puts up ads masquerading as art.
10-1 odds this is a campaign for something..there’s no way to tell if he’s making a statement or making a paycheque.

  • http://undefined Martin Reis

I got those odds. 10-1. I am quite certain it’s just street art and a fine example in my opinion. I will also be the first guy to admit I was wrong it’s it turns out otherwise.
    You? ;-)

I found this piece in the ‘Pedestrians Section’ on his site which is not listed as commercial work… http://fauxreel.ca/
