Two things of note on the TTC front: first, the TTC's press release sent out to outlets last night was incorrect about the price of an Adult MDP Metropass and VIP Metropass; they were listed as costing $110 and $106, respectively, when they'll actually cost a dollar more each (sacrilege!) as of January 3, 2010. (We've updated our post on the fare increases accordingly.) Second, and most pertinent for today: tunnel damage "caused by a contractor doing work on a roadway/bridge south of St. Clair Station," as the TTC's press release puts it, has led to a shutdown in subway service on the yellow line between Bloor and Eglinton Stations, both north and southbound. The TTC expects the delay to last "the duration of the evening."

The TTC was not at all at fault. A contractor, Enbridge I think, cause the damage when working adjacent to the tunnel.
Let's find a way to pin this on Giambrone. Dump the unions!
Giambrone's just a patsy for Comrade Miller! You never hear about this sort of thing happening in Mississauga.
I can't tell if that was tongue in cheek or not. The reason we never hear of public transit in Mississauga is that there's none worth mentioning.
TTC was disappointed that rider strike didn't come off last week, so they've staged their own!
What a hopeless system, in a pitiful city. I'm literally marking off the days until I move the frack out of here.
It's back up now. Says the TTC:
At approximately 2:30 this afternoon, a contractor doing road work unrelated to the TTC inadvertently punctured the roadbed, exposing the subway between St. Clair and Summerhill stations. TTC crews have secured a 75-foot cut slab of concrete to ensure the subway can operate safely.
Subway service will operate normally for the rest of the evening, as well as for the morning rush hour.
Until recently I lived in the Yonge/Eg area and had to cope with at least three complete shutdowns of that line in a year and a half.
I'm not sure how well the shuttle buses worked last night, but I found it was ALWAYS quicker to walk the whole way.
