The eleventh edition of the Steam Whistle Unsigned Indie Music Series took place Friday night, and the brewery's Roundhouse was full of smiles, music, and, well, yeah. Beer.

A captive audience turned out to support not only local music and business, but to donate their big dollars to the Artists' Health Centre Foundation. Little Foot Long Foot opened the night and menacingly tore through a set of their bitingly sarcastic, gritty, bluesy rock; local expert showmen Foxfire showed off a refined set of their infectious disco-pop dance tunes; and all-girl glitter-punk-looking Machetes ended the night with songs that almost stole our snark when their first couple of tunes defied their over-the-top Siouxsie-posing. But then we left. Cynicism: 1, Open Mind: 0.

Everyone's favourite west-comes-east balladeers the Rural Alberta Advantage guest deejayed the night with some choice indie rock and folk punk, making us love them even more and pushing our Grinch heart past the bursting point. Just like we always knew it would happen.
