Globe and Torontoist and You Talk Cycling with Matt Blackett

For our second live conversation co-hosted with our partners at the Globe and Mail (the first was with architect Donald Schmitt), we’re looking at cycling in Toronto, with guest Matt Blackett from Spacing. (And you can probably guess what will be at the forefront of everyone’s mind.) Tune back in to Torontoist a bit before 11 a.m. tomorrow—Wednesday—for the live talk, with your questions at the ready.

The Globe’s problems with unifying its many signon and password systems prevented me from sending a question in advance over there. It didn’t recognize me. Can I do it here? My question for the discussion is:
Given the ongoing major construction on Bloor between Ave. Rd and Church (two years at least now), why not close Bloor to cars altogether in that area? Only allow bikes, and maybe cabs. I know hindsight’s 20-20 but that area’s dangerous for the two types of vehicles to mix at the best of times.

Change (or rather update?) in plans: Anthony Reinhart won’t be hosting the chat, as we originally said he was.

In what respect is Matt Blackett, described in the news today as a nine-month-a-year cyclist, any kind of expert on the subject?
Isn’t this the lazy Canadian journalistic habit of calling up the last person all your competitors called up?
