Strike Watch: Day Twenty-Eight

As the city accumulates garbage throughout the ongoing city workers’ strike, we’ll be accumulating photos. Torontoist’s photographers are checking in on garbage and recycling bins around the city throughout the strike, an attempt to follow the tangible effects of the strike and complement our other coverage.

I think these photos give a somewhat false impression of the impact of the strike.
Try going to the intersection of Northcliffe Blvd and St. Claire Avenue West.
Things don’t look nearly so neat and tidy there.

No single edition of this mini-feature, which each day picks one location and looks at how things look there, gives an accurate overall impression of the impact of the strike. That’s why there are there are twenty-seven other days, and twenty-seven other locations, some cleaner than others.

A garbage truck passed by my window a little while ago. Wonder what’s going on…

Are those “Please Help Us Mrs Nixon” stickers a viral campaign?

I haven’t seen one in person, but this blogger has a theory:

Given the vicinity, the only relevant “Mrs Nixon” I can come up with is the wife of Gordon Nixon, head of RBC.

I just don’t understand why the union won’t accept the latest deal from the city?
I’m trying not to complain about the strike, it’s opened my eyes to how much we consume in our household (which isn’t much thank god), but damn people c’mon! MAKE A DEAL!
