Strike Watch: Day Thirty-Six

With a tentative agreement reached and the deal waiting to be ratified, we’ll be glad to stop accumulating photos of accumulated trash—soon. Torontoist’s photographers have been checking in on garbage and recycling bins around the city throughout the strike, an attempt to follow the tangible effects of the strike and complement our other coverage.

    I emailed David Topping a few weeks ago about this spot.
    its horribly putrid.
    pre-strike, I’d seen residents using that bin as their household garbage drop-off centre. no clue why they didn’t wait for their garbage day; instead, they would shove garbage bags inside the city’s can.
    guess the people there don’t care how wrong it is to dump garbage illegally. makes it really hard for me to want to stop at Rose’s across the street for a spring roll and vietnamese sub.
    on the flip side, its a low-income housing area. if they don’t own cars, how else should they dispose of their trash?

    Chinatown East did not fair well during the garbage strike. The is an equally rank garbage outsde of the Beer Store on Gerrard at Logan.
