Strike Watch: Day Thirty

As the city accumulates garbage throughout the ongoing city workers’ strike, we’ll be accumulating photos. Torontoist’s photographers are checking in on garbage and recycling bins around the city throughout the strike, an attempt to follow the tangible effects of the strike and complement our other coverage.

This doesn’t look very bad at all. Yonge and Wellesley is far worse, and the southwest corner smells absolutely terrible. Still, things aren’t nearly as bad as they were in 2002. Toronto seems to be surviving, despite the hubris of CUPE Local 416/79 and the incompetence of our mayor and City Council.

It gets worse as you go further north. The bin on Yonge at Broadway Ave looked pretty gross this morning. There was quite the garbage stank in the air too though I couldn’t see where it was coming from.
Oh, and the construction isn’t helping.
