City Releases Post-Strike Service Resumption Plan

The City has released their service resumption plan, detailing any and every service affected by the strike and when that service will resume, pending CUPE Local 416's ratification of their deal with the City (and approval of those deals at the special City Council meeting tomorrow, which we'll be keeping a close eye on). Of particular note:

• nearly all City-run offices re-open tomorrow, Friday;
• child-care facilities re-open on Tuesday;
• regular residential curb-side garbage collection, as well as collection for "Apartments/condominiums and apartments above businesses" resumes starting Tuesday, with pickup according to the regular pickup schedule;
• cleanup of waste drop-off sites will begin "immediately following Council approval of the new CUPE collective agreements," and those sites will be completely cleared of waste by late Sunday night, in what Solid Waste General Manager Geoff Rathbone's statement calls a "round-the-clock, City-wide operation" using "all available equipment from Solid Waste, Transportation Services, and Toronto Water, and City crews will be supplemented by contract operators where necessary";
• island ferry service will return, on a reduced schedule on Friday, and a full schedule on Saturday;
• outdoor pools "are expected to open between Wednesday, August 5 and Saturday, August 8";
• and, finally, "street litter" and "litter bins" will begin to be cleaned starting tomorrow, meaning that Strike Watch can—like the strike itself—finally come to its overdue end.
