And They Call It Picket Love

10July09_craigsliststrike.gif

During labour disputes, anger is the emotion you tend to hear about most. Amid stories of picketers delaying citizens who are dropping off their garbage and protests over dump-site locations, romance seems an unlikely sidebar for those on the frontline of the current city workers’ strike.

But behind the picket lines, does love have a chance?

Exhibit A: a recent posting in the "missed connections" section of Craigslist, where it appears a picketer at Sunnyside Park has fallen for the charms of one of the city’s finest. Will the striker ever discover if a kind conversation with a cop coming off of speed-trap duty leads to enduring happiness?

Stay tuned for the next episode of As the Strike Turns.
