Extreme makeover for John St. (Globe and Mail): "Under a massive makeover plan to be launched Tuesday by the local Business Improvement Area, John Street would be turned into a promenade linking five of six planned “character precincts” and creating a new north–south spine for a neighbourhood that is best known today for its rowdy Richmond Street club zone."

• When a Conservative starts talking about campaigning on the economy, run the opposite direction.
• Redesigning John Street won't make any difference if there's still no reason to go there. I can sit on a bench anywhere in the city.
John's not bad. It has:
It beats most streets in town.
Also, the city is lacking in North-South streets that are worth going to. Sprucing up John is a good idea.
