DANCE: The CanAsian International Dance Festival starts tonight with performances from Tokyo’s Ko Murobushi, Victoria’s Jung-Ah Chung, and, from Toronto, Yvonne Ng’s Tiger Princess Dance Projects. Tonight’s program ranges from the dance of a spectacular silver-painted man to an intricate choreography of Bach’s Violin Concerto in A Minor. The festival is known for showcasing top Asian talent from across Canada and around the world. Harbourfront Centre's Fleck Dance Theatre (207 Queens Quay West), 8 p.m., $30 ($25 students, seniors).

ART: Former Torontoist contributor Kevin McBride continues to fawn over our fair city with his latest series of drawings. The Cameron House hosts an opening reception tonight for a new exhibit of his light-hearted building portraits. McBride will reveal a large portrait of Jilly’s, plus the first two panels of a panorama illustrating some buildings on Queen Street East near Moss Park. The Cameron House (408 Queen Street West), 7–9 p.m., FREE.

COMEDY: Round two of Impatient Theatre's improv comedy Cage Match is underway at the Comedy Bar with four of the sixteen competing improv teams—all vying for an eventual grand prize of one thousand bucks. Tonight’s four-team throw-down pits Boston against the Jeremy Birrel Show and Savannah Rats against Della Reese. Each team gets twenty-five minutes to strut their Harold, then the audience votes for the favourite with a secret ballot. The Comedy Bar (945a Bloor Street West), 8 p.m., $10.

ART: The Toronto Comics Arts Festival doesn’t officially start until Saturday, but there are a number of teasers leading up to the weekend, including tonight’s launch of Wowee Zonk 2. The anthology—thirty-two pages with a hand-screened cover!—is the second issue celebrating up-and-coming Toronto comic artists. Chris Kuzma, Ginette Lapalme, and Patrick Kyle are some of the contributors attending the launch. Zowee! Keep 6 Contemporary (938 Bathurst Street), 6–10 p.m., FREE.

MUSIC: Wednesdays Go POP! at Kensington Market’s Supermarket, a live music showcase of catchy new tune-makers. On stage tonight are Magnolius, just back from their European tour, Art of Fresh, who on first listen bring up fond memories of another hip hop duo called the Dream Warriors, and last but not least Tanika Charles, singing some beautiful classic soul. Supermarket (268 Augusta Avenue), 9 p.m., pay-what-you-can.
