WORDS: Author Mark Osbaldeston presents his illustrated book Unbuilt Toronto to the Lake Ontario Waterkeepers for the charitable organization’s second-ever Book Club night. The focus of the presentation will be Toronto’s lost or could-have-been waterfront. The Waterkeepers’ aim is to educate Ontarians about how to fight for clean and safe water where we live and play; in keeping with their doctrine, Book Club night is open to everyone. The Cameron House (408 Queen Street West), 6 p.m., FREE.
ART: The Gladstone Hotel continues its full week of activities for the little ones, but tonight—and every third Wednesday of the month from now on—there’s something for the big kids. Artist Trading Card session encourages artists to bring in their latest mini masterpiece on hockey card–sized media (6.4 x 8.9 centimetres) to trade for a similar-sized masterpiece from (possibly?) the next Duchamp. You never know. Gladstone Hotel Melody Bar (1214 Queen Street West), 6:30–9 p.m., FREE.
MUSIC: The Annex WreckRoom hosts the IndieCan Radio live music showcase every Wednesday. Featured acts tonight are Roar and the Wolf, Modes of Transport (music written using Pro Tools!), and Amber Ladd (whom the WreckRoom describes as Portishead-like, but with a “better voice”). Annex WreckRoom (794 Bathurst Street, second floor), 9 p.m., FREE.
PARTY: Organizers for this year’s ReelWorld Film Festival (April 15–19) are offering a one-night-only opportunity to buy a $125 festival pass (good for all screenings, panels, and parties) for the reduced price of $50. The special deal comes with a night of live entertainment from Imaan Faith, Infinite, Nadia Edwards, and DJ BlackIrish, hosted by festival founder Tonya Lee Williams. Non-pass purchasers are also welcome, but with the slim price difference in cover charge, how could anyone pass up the offer? Jack Astor’s VIP Lounge (133 John Street, second floor), 7 p.m., $50 (includes festival pass) or $30 (cover only).
