Hour’s Light is Spent

Some, like the Star, were a tad overzealous about Earth Hour’s success earlier tonight. “No,” wrote Daniel Dale, “you are not witnessing a city-wide power failure. Toronto’s Earth Hour has begun.” From where we were, sandwiched between a few dozen high-rises downtown, there was still plenty of light to be seen—and from our site statistics for the hour, it’s not looking like all that many (of our Saturday night readers, at least) switched off their computers, either. But, now that another Earth Hour has come and gone, this one bigger and even more contradictory and token-y than ever, it’s still worth asking the same question we did last year: did you participate in Earth Hour?

My girlfriend and I ended up stuck in a restaurant during Earth Hour, but we hung out at home for the rest of the night in the dark.

I work nights & my alarm clock goes off at 9pm. So my house was dark until 9, at which time I got up & showered. Of course, I turned the lights off again when I left for work at 10pm. Who knows if it counts though, since I didn’t change my routine at all…

I made sure that my electricity usage spiked during Earth Hour because I’m a heartless conservative who isn’t willing to perpetuate the global warming myth so that Government has an excuse to get even bigger.

you give off more CO2 burning candles than you do using a 100 watt bulb.
enough of people trying to “raise awareness”, more people taking action instead.
how about ride your bike 3 days out of the week instead of driving all 7 days.
earth hour is as dumb as a facebook causes app.

No no no, conservatives want less, smaller government.

  • http://null PickleToes

That was a tricky sentence to write, so if it appears that I typed that conservatives want larger government, then that’s unfortunate, but luckily you know what I meant.
