Always a bridesmaid! Torontoist has been a finalist for Best Canadian Blog at the Bloggies—basically, the Oscars of the blogging world—for three of the last four years, but we haven't yet won. That sad fact didn't change today, when winners were announced down at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, and we were defeated by Everybody Likes Sandwiches, a food blog that must now, out of necessity, become our greatest enemy. You can see the trauma we experienced above, live in the IRC channel that the Bloggies had set up to broadcast the event for those who couldn't make it to Austin (allaboutgeorge_ was the one announcing the winners). Thanks to everyone who voted for us! If the Bloggies are the online Oscars, we are henceforth making it our mission to become their Kate Winslet, which means we're only like three years away from actually winning something.

At first I was going to be outraged but now I'm going to try those recipes. I mean jesus did you see that millet vegetable bowl? So tasty-looking. Maybe Torontoist needs a healthy vegetarian recipe section like that blog. For example, something's wrong with King's Vegetarian Cafe or whatever, and now I can't get vegetarian sticky rice. Yes I could make my own, but I'm not good at cooking and I want the savoury mushroom filling they have. Torontoist could use its powerful connections to get me that recipe.
Until then, I am leaving Torontoist for this fantastic sandwich blog.
Bah, food blogs have a cultish following that's way more likely to vote. (I say this as one of the few food blog readers too lazy to do anything.)
hello TO...its Canaadian...lol....don't worry.. 2010..that is the year....now I will have to get into your site and learn about these literary critics,etc...lol
Fun time on the old IRC today

But everyone does not like sandwiches. I don't like them nor dislike them, just tolerate them.
