FILM: Filmmaker Edgar Wright, who's currently in town to direct Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, is taking Kevin Smith's initiative by curating a mini film-festival of his own at the Bloor Cinema. "The Wright Stuff" runs sporadically until April 12 and will screen Wright's favourite films (among them Shaolin Soccer, Drunken Master 2, and The Brood) alongside a few of Wright's own films. Being screened tonight in a double bill are Wright's 2004 zombie parody Shaun of the Dead and his 2007 crime-medy Hot Fuzz. Wright will stick around for a Q&A after the screenings. Bloor Cinema (506 Bloor Street West), doors at 6:30 p.m., $18.

BENEFITS: Tonight at CineCycle, there will be a fundraiser for Jamie's Place, a new artist collective and alternative performance space. According to the fellow named "bird dad" who wrote about it on Stillepost, Jamie's Place will serve as a "gallery, studio, kitchen, theatre, workshop, research lab, blog, and archive." The fundraiser will feature performances from Anagram, Bush League, Katie Stelmanis, and Animal Monster, along with a set from DJ Rob Gordon. CineCycle (in the alley behind 129 Spadina Avenue), 10 p.m., $10.

MUSIC: There is a stacked lineup of bands at the Horseshoe Tavern tonight. For $10, you'll get to see the Coast, the Diableros, Oh No Forest Fires, and the Ryan Masters Band (370 Queen Street West, 9:30 p.m., $10). Over at Sneaky Dee's, Demon's Claws will be celebrating the release of their new EP, Telephone Explosion. Also performing will be Teen Anger, Sedatives, and Rackshot (431 College Street, 9 p.m., $8).

ART: Today (and not tomorrow, March 1, for some reason), the ROM is kicking off Egypt Month. "Out of the Vaults: Ancient Egyptian Books of the Dead" will spotlight the recently restored Book of the Dead of Amen-em-hat, an ancient Egyptian collection of hymns for the afterlife. Complementing the book during the exhibit will be some rarely seen artifacts from the ROM's own Egyptian archives. Royal Ontario Museum (100 Queen's Park), 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m., $22 (free for members).
