PhotoTO: Icefest

The highlight of the 2009 Bloor Yorkville Icefest last weekend was Saturday’s Sassafraz Ice Carving Competition. While the carving ended this weekend, according to publicist Steven Carvalho, the pieces “will be up for the next week, or so—weather pending, since ice doesn’t do too well in warm weather.”

A shout out to Tyler who is the goatee-sporting dude carving that funky fish called “BudaFish”. He apparently won first prize and his brother Ted won 3rd prize for “GushiGirl”.
Tyler is a buddy of mine from London, and for our wedding gift, he came all the way up to Hart House with an ice-carving for the reception. This is his hobby and not a profession.
All the ice sculptures at these events are amazing. You should check it out this week if possible before they all melt.
