You, Me, and the TTC Makes e-Alerts

In a few hours, the TTC will unveil the first stage of their new e-Alerts subscription service, which “provides real-time email notices that will keep customers informed of…service disruptions.” (Allegedly only for the subway at first, and for all surface routes once things are working smoothly.) If you’re anxious to give the service a go, though, you can sign up for it online right now.

    I am torn between wanting to see how well the alert system works and not wanting to experience a service disruption…

    No RSS feed? I know that it’s still kind of a niche thing, but it’s not harder to implement than an automatically updated Web page, and it’s easier than an opt-in mailing list. I hope it’s a feature that shows up in a later phase of the project.

    Never mind, here’s the TTC Service Alerts/Advisories feed. I just missed the link on the bottom right corner of every page (auto discovery would have helped).

    Well, I’ve already unsubscribed. I’ve gotten, like, five identical updates already. I didn’t find them particularly helpful, either.
