Bye, NewMusic

The NewMusic, one of the few remaining things at MuchMusic that doesn't really suck, is gone after nearly thirty years, the victim of CTVglobemedia cuts. Eye mourns the show's loss with a look back at its finest moments, while Much will probably cope by just playing "Womanizer" a few dozen more times on Mondays.

don't blame Much... blame the people/conglomerate who bought Much.

You know, the same geniuses who kept Video on Trial/The Totally Untrue Story of.../We're Experiencing Technical Difficulties/Hot and Wet ETC.

Now there is officially no reason to watch MuchMusic.

Is the Wedge gone too, or are they just going to continue to preempt it for reruns of Much specials or So You Think You Can Dance?

I am not quite sure what this is but it has an eerie resemblance to TRL on MTV being cut a few weeks ago. Coincidence?

Much Music was heading down hill long before CTV bought it, but the truly awful decisions weren't made until after Moses cashed out.

Someone really ought to launch a music video channel now that there aren't any on basic cable/broadcast.

As much as I dislike MTV Canada, it would be a great slap in the who-the-hell-watches-MuchMusic face, if they were to air a new NewMusic.

You know kinda like what CTV did to CBC with the Hockey Night in Canada song.

Would that be irony cuz I havne't a clue?

If MTV were to air a refranchised New Music, it would have to be in a talk/doc format as they don't have rights to be a music video channel (they assumed CTV's TalkTV CRTC license).

Isn't MTV Canada also owned by CTV? Not much of a slap there.

by god you're By.
man does CTV own me too?

i was sick this weekend and watched MM from 1-7pm both days, and not joking, the only shows i saw were:
- Clueless
- Gossip Girl (okay, not complaining, but still doesn't belong on MM)
- So You Think You Can Dance Canada

oh, and that HORRIBLE "i hate pimples!" "I KNOW, they're so annoying." ad over, and over, and over again...

Is MuchMusic's license specific about being either a music or music video channel? Why are they allowed to morph into a sitcom/reality/movie channel?
