ENVIRONMENT: Change is in the air. Toronto Hydro is hosting a public meeting to discuss the testing stage [PDF] of its proposed Lake Ontario off-shore wind project. The Toronto Environmental Alliance is asking for a show of support at the meeting from Torontonians who want clean energy driving their laptops, Wiis, and future electric cars, as there is opposition to even this early research stage. FILM: Two years after Warrendale, Allan King turned his cinema-verité eye on a couple whose marriage was failing. A Married Couple is a time capsule of gender politics on the home front at a time when women were just entering the workforce. It was a prelude to the skyrocketing divorce rate that followed, and it now begs the question of whether marital relationships have changed much since the film was made in 1969. WORDS: The Mercury Press launches its fall lineup with readings from eight newly published authors. The works range from tragic history-inspired poetry to art-scene journal writing to national-conspiracy fiction. Back to the Garden Café (2535 Dundas Street West), 7:30 p.m., FREE.
COMEDY: Every Monday Second City offers a “best of” set of classic Second City comedy sketches. Performers add a bonus improv set at the end of the evening. Second City Main stage (51 Mercer Street), 8 p.m., $12.

Where are all the people that think wind farms ought to be banned because they make the view from their lakefront property ugly? And somehow manage to keep development of said wind farms perpetually in check?
Anyway, I'd like to see how their arguments fare in online debate.
