The TTC has just announced widespread service improvements that will jump into effect this Sunday, November 23. According to the organization's press release, "All bus routes will now align with the hours of the subway. Routes that used to only operate during peak periods, or midday, will now run during the same hours that the subway operates, with a maximum of 30 minute waiting times." Even better, they say, "Customers of the Toronto Transit Commission will now be able to take almost any bus route in the city between approximately 6 a.m. and 1 a.m., seven days a week." So now might be a good time to buy Red Rocket after all.

I'm ... impressed. Of course, I'm moving in two weeks so that means I won't be benefitting very much from the extended hours for the venerable Jones route (already every 30 minutes outside of peak hours, no late service, no Sunday service).
I'll believe it when I see it.
Queen streetcars are still getting short turned a year after they promised to fix the service.
Last night we had 5 buses come down Pape practically touching bumpers.
I was cautiously happy then noticed that the bus I take to and from work is going from 22 minute service to 30 minute service. Argh. Good thing I have a warm jacket and boots.
Hmm...good that they are improving the usefulness of the TTC by extending the service hours but why don't they use any logic when they did this new plan?!?!?
If you are going to extend service to "align with the hours of the subway" and have the buses "now run during the same hours that the subway operates" SCHEDULE THE LAST BUS OUT OF A STATION AFTER THE LAST TRAIN ARRIVES THERE!!!! DUH!!!
If you are, for instance, trying to get home from Union and you live on the 108 Downsview route of Downsview the last train from Union is 1:43 and it takes 26 mins (according to myttc.ca) to get from Union to Downsview...what good is that last 1am bus going to do you? It left over an hour before you got to the station!!!
