Who Else Misses Ed the Sock?

If you’re still not sure whether or not MuchMusic is flailing, consider We’re Experiencing Technical Difficulties, “a new MuchOriginal series that shows what would happen if Much was forced into broadcasting anything and everything.” If the clips online weren’t insufferable enough, how about Bobby the Puppet, a cross between Ed the Sock and Gabbo, who Much let post on their blog last night. We quote: “I am going to talk to my good friend Kenia today @ 6:30pm on WETD, and see if she will teach me how to say some fun stuff in Spanish…and then I’ll see if I can give her some puppet tongue action below the equator!!!” Yeah. Aside from being stupid, vaguely offensive, and relentlessly unfunny, the show’s also pretty superfluous: doesn’t Much already broadcast anything and everything?

    *sigh* I remember when Muchmusic showed good, cutting edge television.
    I, for one, miss Ed the Sock. At least Ed worked because he was intelligent, and capable of insulting politicians and skanky whores in the same sentence. Curtis is just lame. Circumsized with a pencil sharpener? I swear I heard that joke in the early 90′s at Just For Laughs, and it wasn’t funny then, and it sure as hell isn’t funny now.
    WETD is a horrible rip-off of Robot Chicken. Everything Much does is a rip-off of something else, now. There’s nothing new/fresh/unique. It’s like CTV/Rogers is just waiting for Much to die so that they can give the slot to MTV.

    If there was no Ed the sock, there would be no Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog. Ed’s Night Party was ammusing for a while, but I stopped watching it after a while. I do miss Fromage top 40 cheesiest video countdown, some great jokes in those award shows.

    The biggest difference between Ed the Sock and Triumph is that Triumph was funny.

    WETD is what you get from a station that would rather just run US sitcoms and reality shows but is compelled to include Canadian content.

    i do miss the sock, but not that red haired woman. i heard she was dude’s wife or something, which is the only possible explanation for how she got on the air.
    seriously, though, if she is his wife he probably is like refusing to work without her, which means it’s no wonder he can’t get back on much.
