My Dog Skype

Do you use Skype? Are you...in China right now? Oh, good. Because researchers at University of Toronto's Citizen Lab revealed yesterday in a report [PDF] that chat messages sent over Skype's Chinese service, TOM-Skype, were being actively monitored, censored (for keywords like "democracy," hah), and stored on publicly-accessible servers, where the Citizen Lab researchers got their hands on them. Skype said today that they were "extremely concerned" about the practice, and had no knowledge it was going on. Stay classy, China! [via Boing Boing]

These practices would make GWB proud, good to know they are following ever step by the book to make sure none of that evil democracy enters the country. Yep... same shit, different pile.

Do you see where the left will take you?

far-left or far-right, it doesn't matter. They both are flawed, and paranoid of losing control once they gain it. If humanity went completely ape-shit and a war broke between far-left and far-right, I would sell backfiring guns to both sides. The conservatives would of course feel all high and mighty and shoot first, pegging themselves straight between the eyes, and the liberals being scared of the loud noise will fire back. In my eyes thats a win-win, and I can finally get some damn sleep around here.

Okay, fine. The extreme right takes you there too. Bush takes you there. I'm not even joking, I'm just being impartial.

Gauldar is right, authoritarianism is the spawn of extremism; of all political stripes.
