Making A Home From A Rented House

So, we didn’t get into the secret/surprise Feist show at the Cameron House tonight, but we hope that some of you got lucky and got squeezed into the venue’s teeny-tiny back room. (We showed up to an empty Cameron House at 6, left when we realized the show itself probably wasn’t starting till 10, then came back at 7:45 and found ourselves at the end of a long, unmoving line). Did you make it in (and grab photos or videos)? Regale us; e-mail tips@torontoist.com, and we’ll put together a post that will attempt to fill the void for the folks that didn’t make it.

    That really mean lady with the plaid jacket told me to get rid of my camera, and I imagine I wasn’t the only one.
    I didn’t get in at any rate, despite being there since 6. It was all people who showed up just after 7 that went straight to the back to start a line. Everyone else followed like sheep, the last being the folks enjoying a drink or 3 while they waited – like me.

    But it’s a “surprise” show, so what do you expect, eh?

    She was filming a documentary, so they only let in 45 people for a very intimate show.
    Plaid jacket lady promised me a place inside but when the curtain opened, people got aggressive..and mean.
    I was feist fan #47. But I’m not bitter.
    Must say, I listened to a few songs outside the curtain and she sounded magical.

    I was going to cover the event for a music magazine, so scammed my way to the front but when they saw my camera they said no. I left because I would have felt like a dick going in in front of people who had been waiting 3 hours longer than me.
    Sucks to wait an hour and a half before someone says you can’t take pictures, would have been nice if they had the signs and disclaimers at the front of the venue.

    I showed up at 6:30, sat in the middle of the room to watch the bluegrassy duo play. When the line began to form, I followed. I just squeaked in – me and about 4 people behind me. Whew. It was worth the wait. I’m sorry to those who missed out.
    The show was lovely, surreal, her voice a crystal.
    I’ve seen her play in the dark before, when the lights went out in a club a few years ago, but the shadowplay made for an even dreamier, intimate feeling. I even got to take home a tiny moon lantern. Thanks Feist and Cameron House for the beautiful evening!
