Toronto: Almost As Good As Barrie!

According to data compiled by the Ottawa-based Canadian Council on Learning (CCL), and published in Maclean’s, Toronto is Canada’s 18th smartest, 23rd most cultured, and 21st most caring city. If you doubt the methodology, consider that Ottawa, Kitchener, Barrie, Guelph, London, Kingston, Oshawa, and Peterborough placed higher than Toronto on all three lists. Oh boy. [via CanCult.]

    This has to be based on something like number of cultural institutions per capita.
    City A has 10,000 people and one museum; City B has 1,000,000 people and 9 museums; therefore City A scores higher culturally.
    Or maybe we’re just a bunch of uncultured, uneducated idiots who don’t care about anyone else.

    I wonder if they took the testing benchmarks and applied them to US cities like Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis, and Nashville, how would they stack up against us?
