The Daily Photoist: September 9, 2008

Every weekday morning, bright and early, we feature a photo (or two) from a photographer in the Torontoist Flickr Pool. It’s our way of giving the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve.

Awesome. This totally makes me think of this tidbit.
They must be friends. Apparently, it must not apply to these folks, because we know their names.

nib, I have the CD for that song. I spent about $50 to purchase the Japanese import back in 1994, three summers after I first saw that very broadcast you saw on YouTube (fairly certain it was the one and only time that song made it to the airwaves in North America, my old radio shows excepted). It took making phone calls to a Tower Records in Tokyo and painstakingly slow dialogue to clarify how to order it (you need a stock number to order, eh?). This was before just looking it up on discogs.com or anywhere else online. The effort was worth every penny. :)
And the link to the legal provisions is something I think about constantly when I’m shooting. There’ve been moments when I’m standing before what would look like an amazing shot, but then my legal adherence governor (or maybe it’s just my interpretation of ethics) kicks in and I put down the camera. I love spontaneity, but not at the cost of dismissing consent first.

it’s funny, i’ve actually gone back and watched that several times. good shit. i mean, quirkiness aside, they’re a pretty damn good band. i love the one-move swagger-dance they do.
i did some looking around to find which album it is on, but frankly, there’s really hardly any english info on the web about them. luckily i have easy access to a japanese friend who can translate ;)
