Sarah Lazarovic—curator of the garage-based Montrose Portrait Gallery of Canada—is painting a portrait of a Torontonian every day. Each Monday, we'll feature one of those portraits here. Suggestions for subjects welcome.
Though not actually a Torontonian, activist Emma Goldman died in Toronto on May 14, 1940. Her body was held at the Toronto Labour Lyceum for three days. These days the Labour Lyceum is better known as Bright Pearl Seafood Restaurant, though one finds little trace of the building's past while sucking back shaomai in the restaurant's great hall.
