Panoramaist: Yonge-Dundas Scramble Intersection

Contributor Tony Makepeace is taking us for some spins around our city with his panoramas. You can look up, down, side to side, in, and out—pretty much every direction but back at yourself, which would be kind of creepy. Say hello to Panoramaist, the Toronto shoe-gazer's worst enemy.

Panoramaist is back with a friendlier format: it's now smoother and faster-loading, Flash-based, integrated into Torontoist's layout, and has a hideable toolbar along the bottom that requires just one click to jump from Torontoist to stunning full-screen. The Yonge-Dundas scramble intersection—much photographed and fawned over—seemed like a nice way to bring it back.

nice panorama.
nestlé man looks unhappy.
scramble makes him sad.

Hahaha, I noticed Nestle man, too!

Is the guy in white standing in the middle of the intersection grabbing his crotch? Anyone?

I like how that cab is sitting right in the middle of the crosswalk. Typical.

The crotch-grab buy is giving a big "Fuck You!" to cars and Nestle Man clearly disapproves of the gesture. Toronto's own Odd Couple they are.

Nestle man sees through your plan! NO ICECREAM FOR YOU@!

I watched the scramble intersection for a few minutes the other day and noticed that drivers anticipating the green light (following the opposite change to red) would often bunny-hop into the intersection, à la the cab in the panorama. I'm surprised nobody's been seriously hit yet.

The Siamese twins to the right of Nestle man are kinda freaking me out.

Huh, didn't notice that. Curse you Nestle man and your distracting ways!
