Times New Roamin'

The New York Times has gotten around to writing about Igor Kenk; an article by Ian Austen will appear on page A7 in Friday's paper, and at 1100+ words, it's apparently the longest article written about Toronto in the Times since that boring travel one in May. The arrest has provoked an outpouring of anger and publicity in a city renowned as one of the most bicycle-friendly places in the world.

Really? Are we? Perhaps I should be more grateful?

I left a similar message (albeit for the wrong article) about that.

If that reputation's true, then it's a pretty sad statement for the state of biking in "the world."

I didn't feel like I was in a bicycle-friendly city when a City of Toronto cube van tried to run over me today, that's all. Today probably wasn't the best day for me to read that particular paragraph.

word is that toronto life is going to have a sizable piece on him in the october issue. lots of background and inside perspectives.

The BBC News has also picked up this story, it's amazing how much attention this has gotten in mainstream media.
