Hey, are you a business wanting extra parking in front of your store? Well, good news: it turns out Toronto's sidewalks are for sale! For as little as $75,000, you too can make the city suck a little more for anybody not in a car, as this is all part of Toronto's brilliant "pretend it is the 1950s" civic revitalization plan.
PETA's latest counterproductive advertising campaign that will piss off far more people than it ever attracts? Comparing the Winnipeg bus attack to eating meat. PETA spokesperson Bruce Friedrich said, "look, we know some people might find our advertisement offensive, but that's tough because we're just better than them, so nyah nyah nyah."
Who owns the Arctic? According to British researchers, Canada has a good chunk of it, along with Norway, the United States, Russia and Denmark. In the rush to profit from global warming and ecological collapse, however, the vital question of who exactly has title to Santa's workshop remains unanswered.
Hazel McCallion hinted yesterday that she might run for Mayor of Mississauga again at the age of 87. At this rate, when your grandchildren die at the ripe old age of 167, Hazel McCallion will still be mayor of Mississauga.
And Shaun Marcum pitched six innings of perfect baseball to lead the Jays to a victory over Oakland.

"Pusateri's asked for [the sidewalk] and they paid for it," says Councillor Kyle Rae (Ward 27, Toronto Centre-Rosedale). "That's public use, isn't it? They're the public."
...
PETA's latest series of campaigns to turn its brand image into a joke have been quite successful. That was the goal right?
Now I remember why I stopped donating to PETA.
Check out Kyle Rae's cycling stance in the 2006 election, in retrospect it reads like a joke now that he's against bike lanes on Bloor.

Kyle Rae is a fucking idiot.
To be a politition you need to be an ass. Brown nosing and anal-retentiveness are a must, and always be a public servant to the biggest dicks.
The entire Bloor-Yorkville reconstruction progress is a boondoggle in my opinion. Not that it is at all unexpected, but the municipal politicians are letting the BIA do whatever it wants.
Svend, I sent Kyle Rae an email asking about his reversal on Bloor, but got no reply. Check this out:

LOL. The apocalypse fetishist predicts "ecological collapse" while scolding PETA's sensationalism.
spacejack, unabated global warming will lead to ecological collapse. It is not sensationalism. It is as close to reporting the facts as you can get when talking about things that will happen on a 50 year time frame.
PETA is using the wrong angle (it seems to be their MO). They should tout the lessened environmental impact of a reduced meat or meat free diet.
I don't think it's the wrong angle (the ad is, however, in poor taste), but I do think that an emphasis on the environmental impact of meat production should be worked into existing campaigns that focus on animal welfare. PETA rarely addresses the environmental issue, despite the fact that it's likely their best recruiting tool at a time when everyone's getting all "green".
I'm a vegetarian, and I believe in animal rights. I also believe that doesn't exclude me from being a humanitarian.
PETA's latest ad is one in a long line that have constantly embarassed me. They're the Westboro Baptist Ministry of the animal rights movement. They just give vegetarians a bad name, and I don't think their tactics really are pulling anyone new to the "cause". All they attract are the hokey zealots that people tend to ignore anyway.
Lock the PETA marketing department in the same room with the Westboro Baptists and throw away the key.
Ben, where do you get your "facts" about what happened 50 years from now anyway?
I cant wait until the eco-fascists get tired of global warming and dump the fuss over carbon to rightly focus their attention on pollutants actually known to cause environmental damage.
