Hello, Dolly?

20080709posterchild.jpgPosterchild has taken a brief respite from making wonderful street art (did you see his latest guerilla gardening boxes?) to make...dolls?!

Yes, Post—long obsessed with the astronaut/space travel motif—made himself a dead astronaut costume at the end of 2006 and has since put up some pieces wearing it. Now, with the help of his mom (who taught him to sew) and his ex-girlfriend (who gave him a sewing machine), he's "adapted and shrunken his suit design and has handmade a legion of plush avatars," who "explore the possibilities of textures and patterns in conveying and creating character or identity." They're the perfect mix of cute and freaky.

"All Dolled Up"'s opening is Thursday night at *Hotshot in Kensington Market (181 Augusta Street) and will feature "installations, guest DJ & video astronaut projections." The show will run July 10–23.
