This, right here, is a headless post—a short blurb for something that doesn’t necessitate a full-length post. It appears on the front page as a separate article (and is linkable as such), and you can comment on it like any other article, but it doesn’t draw as much attention to itself as a regular article does, and it doesn’t have an image associated with it.
