Weather To Get Hot, iTunes To Get Movies, Hillary To Get Real

Environment Canada says it's going to be a hot, sweaty, sticky, sexy summer, perfect for rocking that thong at the beach or just sitting on a fire escape playing saxophone in your undershirt.

According to Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, the Feds want to convince GM to build a new car in Oshawa, and are willing to drop big bucks to do it. Flaherty is offering to give GM money from the Automotive Innovation Fund to design a car that people might actually want.

Get ready to miss your subway stop—Apple is finally introducing movies to the Canadian iTunes store. Since Torontoist normally doesn't shill for corporate product launches unless we're pissed off about something,"WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG, STUPID APPLE!!!???" That OK for everybody?

Statistics Canada says that 68.4% of Canadians are homeowners—the highest proportion ever. More accurately, 68.4% of Canadians are mortgage holders, and the banks own more homes than ever before.

In the US Democratic primaries, word is that Hillary Clinton will "express support" for apparent nominee Barack Obama this Saturday. Clinton has spent most of the week in a hotel room alternately banging her head on the wall and trying to submit articles to Wikipedia about the American tradition of the "co-President."

And Detroit beat Pittsburgh 3–2 to win the Stanley Cup, and now match Toronto with eleven Cups over their franchise history. Took 'em 41 years to catch up, though.

Flaherty wants to subsidize his own riding again.
Instead of a train, it's cars. Just because many of his constituents were laid off or will soon be laid off, the cornerstone of conservatism goes out the window.

To hell with "let the marketplace take care of itself". It's his riding and he's nothing more than a stubby fingered runty bulldog.

Talk about self-interest.

I'd be banging my head too if the lesser qualified, lesser experienced candidate was given a free pass by my own party and the media.

That photograph is amazing. It looks like an Alex Colville painting.

Given the Fed Tory and Ont Libs track record, the Hummer line will be moved to Oshawa, and then it in turn will close in two more years after a couple of hundred million more dropped in the automakers wallets.

Wings fan that I am, I would love it if it were true that the Wings are now tied with the Leafs for number of Cups. But the Leafs still have 13 while the Wings have 11.

However, in my *lifetime*, the Wings are up 4-0 on the Leafs in Cups...

But I heard it on 680 news...anyway, the Leafs site says they won the CUP in 32,42,44,47,48,49,51,62,63,64,67 - 11 times.

Is this one of those sports fan subtleties like they were champs in some other league, or for some other cup, or before they changed their name or something?

The Toronto Arenas won in 1918, and the Toronto St. Pats won in 1922. Therefore, Toronto has won the cup 13 times, but the Leafs have won 11 times.

If you want to get really technical, we can go back to when the Blueshirts won the cup in 1914...

(for the record, I'm a former Air Canada Centre tour guide)

Apple didn't "finally" bring movies to iTunes Canada, the studios "finally" agreed on terms and let them do it. I am certain Apple has wanted to roll out all this cool stuff in every market as soon as possible, but the content owners of music and movies fear new channels of distribution.

The studios and labels need to embrace the technology, and try to understand their customers. No wonder people use P2P in order to get their fix.
