The Machinist is a worthy film but it's hard not to freak out at Bale's body in it. There's a shot of him standing by the fridge where he almost disappears. How he got from that to Batman-ready I have no idea.

about Christian Bale, from wikipedia Bale succeeded in meeting the deadline, gaining a total of one hundred pounds (46kg) in six months. He went from about 130lbs to 230lbs. Not that I am trying to demean Reeve at all, but the Machinist to Batman turnaround was impressiver.

Great cinematography in that first Superman movie. If you ever watch the director's commentary on the DVD you can hear a couple of senile old guys gush about that. It still makes me feel like I'm right in downtown Metropolis whenever I see the street scenes.
