Toro Toro Toro!

2008_snappyanswers.jpg

Torontoist had a major hard-on for Toro Magazine during its four-year run as Canada's handsomest glossy. So when the thinking lad's mag shrivelled up back in spring 2007 (proving, sadly, that subscribers and awards mean little without advertisers and government funding), its sudden absence from newsstands left us frustrated and unfulfilled. Investigative reporting, social commentary, witty essays, and tits? We couldn't find all this between the sheets of any other rag in the country.

Imagine, then, the explosion of feeling in our loins when our inboxes lit up with the most enticing email subject line since the invention of penis-enhancing pills: "ToroMagazine.com Launch Party Invite."

We clicked once. Clicked twice. And on the third time, we realized it wasn't a dream. It's true: Toro is back. Maybe not in print, but if the erstwhile last issue (starring Hayden Christenson, published online last March) is any indication, the internet incarnation will be just as glossy.

Details on the new Toro—tagged "the online source for the discerning man"—have yet to be released, but we know the site goes live May 21, and you know we'll be there. We're practically dripping with anticipation.

Does anyone go to Dose.ca since they stopped printing and went strictly digital? I know I don't.

Poor Toro.

I do!

Dose is still around?

I never read Toro, but editor Derek Finkle's presentation at the first Nonfiction event was mindblowing.

Tits?

Maybe they could get around to paying their writers from the last few issues of the actual mag before funding this new launch...

"the online source for the discerning man"
Star Wars 2 and 3, Awake, Factory Girl and Jumper notwithstanding. Or does discerning just mean rich?

There's always the venerable www.vbs.tv
