The Daily Photoist: May 20, 2008

Every weekday morning, bright and early, we feature a photo (or two) from a photographer in the Torontoist Flickr Pool. It's our way of giving the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention that they deserve.

David, I have a question. In my RSS feed (I use Google reader), a lot of the time large photos get cut in half or have a line through the middle like so: http://flickr.com/photos/nickbenko/2509336062/
It happens in both Safari and FF. Do you know if this happens to anyone else? No big deal, really, just wanted to let you know of this little glitch.
Like the circus photo feature yesterday was really weird in my reader, like the photos were cut in half vertically and each piece was stacked on top of the other. Quite strange, really.

This does happen in most RSS readers; Gothamist sites have a file size limit of 110 kb, so for some Daily Photoists it's sometimes tough to get the shot under that size (particularly if it's detailed or tall). As a result we split some shots horizontally into two or more slices, creating two or more separate files that appear to be joined as one on the site...but not in some feed readers. Apologies (and apologies for the circus post, as the images were accidentaly split vertically rather than horizontally).

Cool, no worries! Good to know.
