All That Glitters is Gold

051708ledzeppelin.jpgBig news! According to MuchMusic’s (quite reliable) blog, Led Zeppelin will be in Toronto in August to play (and, we assume, easily sell out) four dates at the Rogers Centre. No other details have yet been leaked.
Since tickets for London’s show on December 10 of last year were resold easily online for more than $3,000; since tickets are to be available via Ticketmaster; and since, according to MuchMusic’s blog, there will be “no fancy tour of the U.S” to accompany the Toronto date, we can only wish Zeppelin fans luck on this one. Even though the Rogers Centre can accomodate up to 55,000 people for concerts, and thus 220,000 for that four night-stretch, we have a feeling that there are a pretty hefty amount of people more than that number who have been waiting to see the band since at least a decade before Puff Daddy sampled “Kashmir” for the Godzilla soundtrack or Jack Black sang along with “Immigrant Song” in School of Rock.

I think that still comes in cheaper than with the Ticketmaster surcharge…

hah. yeah right. As NOW magazine recently pointed out, tickets seem to vanish off Ticketmaster in minutes and then re-appear at insanely inflated prices on the Ticketmaster-owned broker TicketKing. What an interesting coincidence.

Apologies if my dislike for Ticketmaster wasn’t palpable enough.

Sorry david! If there’s a dig at Ticketmaster in there, I must have glazed over it.
